1985 I received this dollhouse as a Christmas Gift
The Medford House was a long awaited Christmas gift given to me by my parents in 1985. I already had practically everything to furnish it as I had been collecting since I was very small.
This is the photo of the house assembled by the shop where it was bought. The shop was Circus Circus Doll Hospital, in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. This house was created by Dollhouse Manufacturing Company, but they burned down in 1986 as rumor has it. I am still searching for the plans for the addition for this house, if anyone knows how to get a hold of them.
December 1985 ~ Beautiful and untouched. The creative juices start flowing...Can't wait to get started on it. First night stayed up til 2 a.m. painting it.
Spring of 1986 ~ Getting ready to graduate from High School and go off to Art School...not as much time as needed to work on the house.
Fall 1986 ~ Moved to Florida to attend Art School. Unfortunately I had to leave the house behind. I never really got to finish decorating it. It was decorated in a victorian way, but I never actually finished furnishing all the rooms. Lucky for me later, I never glued anything in place, like stairs or secondary walls...made it much easier to re-do this time.
Winter 1989 ~ My parents come for a visit to see my first born son, and they bring the dollhouse. Oh what joy! But no time to work on it with a new baby in the house.
Fall 1990 ~ My parents come back to see my second born son, and I beg them to take the dollhouse home with them for safe keeping since my 18 month old thought it was fun to pull porch rails and draw on it. There just was no place to keep it up high enough.
