Miniature Crochet for The Serious Miniature Collector

The Farmhouse Dollhouse - 1985 by the Dollhouse Company, NY

Who Made the House?
The kit was bought around 1985 and manufactured by the Dollhouse Manufacturing Company, New York which burned down shortly after that. So there aren't very many, but they are very similar to the Real Good Toys line of today.

First it was my Mom's House...
Dollhouse Farmhouse This is a Farmhouse dollhouse, or at least it is meant to be one. It was given to me by my mother, she passed away, and it was hers only in her adult years. She never had time or resources to do much with it. Inside it is painted white with nothing else done to it. It measures about 30 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 26 inches tall.

Then it was Monica's House...
I gave this house and everything she should need to finish it, to my dear mini friend, Monica. I knew she would enjoy it more than I could and she really wanted one for years. My Mother, if she had known Monica, would have thought so, too.

Monica passed away September 2007 unexpectedly, so this little (big) farmhouse has now made its way back to my home again. I will miss Monica very much, if ever there was a true miniaturist, it was her. Always volunteering and always seeing the mini in everything she came across.

The Farmhouse Dollhouse - Restoration Project

Then the Farmnhouse was back at the Blohm Residence, it seems that I had to restore this dollhouse. It's has waited ever so patiently for some care and attention, so it went...

So I tried Pale Baby Blue Paint.....

White porch posts.....

Russet/cedar colored shingles .....

Coffee Stirer porch (will be painted white).....

Ok, something didn't feel right about the Baby Blue paint color.
So on with a creamy cafe color...mmmmm....

The doors and windows are stained and painted to match the roofing nicely....

Here are the pictures of the completed house! There is scotch tape to hold the windows in until the new owner is all finished wallpapering or whatever she likes. The stairway was completely smashed and covered in very thick dribbles of paint. After stripping and sanding, it's nice again. The interior is primed and ready for it's new tenants.

And Inside, too!

This is now going to be Amy's House. I hope she likes it.
